Hi Everyone, it's time to bake a cake! I have been researching a cake to make for a family reunion picnic on Saturday. Needs to be easy to transport, easy to serve, and taste incredible! I had a lot of suggestions for cakes this week (thank you!), but I think the best choice for this occasion is a Glazed Lemon Cake. I made it many years ago and I remember it as really moist, very lemony and the glaze is all buttery lemony sweetness! Yum. It is a very easy cake with lots of fresh lemon juice and zest in both the cake and the frosting. I will be baking on Friday, can't wait! Hope you all enjoy....
PS it is baked in a tube pan(the one with a hole in the middle, not a bundt) yay! no layers to split or mess up!
Oh im so glad to hear that you are bringing one of you cakes to the reunion.. so getting to see you is wonderful.. but I gotta say.. the cake thing...thats the frosting on the cake LOL..er glaze.
ReplyDeleteYou did make this cake some time ago and I thought it was the best, and great to take to a picnic, lemon appeals to almost everyone. I will be first in line !!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I should make 2....
ReplyDeletelemon cake sounds great!
ReplyDeleteIs a tube pan the same as an angel food pan? Lemon cake will be perfect for your family reunion. I can't wait to see pictures. Hope your baking day is less stressful than the German Chocolate Day! =]
ReplyDeleteDear danarema,
ReplyDeleteYes, a tube pan is the same as the one you bake an angel food cake in! Like I said, I think I will fill the hole with extra frosting and eat it on the way to the reunion :) Because this cake is so much easier, it should be stress-free! Just fun baking ahead! You should make it.
Just an up date- I made your german Choc/ cake w/ bittersweet gnash icing today and it was so perfect..I did quarter the cake (4 layers) with the germ choc. filling between each layer it was TALL.. and quite impressive.
ReplyDeleteAmazing to behold, amazing to eat- moist layers of choc. flavor.
Thank you for this recipie..I will make it many times Im certain.
Dear Raia,
ReplyDeleteI am so excited that you made the cake!! How did splitting the layers go? A friend told me her mom used dental floss, tie ea end to golf tees, slide along the counter to split layer. I think the filling and choc ganache are 2 of the yummiest things on earth. Yay!!
can't wait to taste your cake tomorrow!! Lemon is my favorite u know!!! I have made this recipe many times and people love it!
ReplyDeleteI love all things lemon. Your cake sounds delish, especially since you used Meyer lemons!
ReplyDeleteThis cake is sooo good. nothing left but a few crumbs !
ReplyDeleteThank you all! Now, I can think about my next adventure! The removeable bottom for one of my 9" cake pans is lost in the golf course kitchen, so must go on the hunt for a new pan! Oh, and Coco's raspberry pie was to die for!!
ReplyDeleteYou'r right, the pie was really good, thanks, coco
