Special Cake for a Special Lady: Mom's Cake
Hi everyone! Wow, after vacation, babysitting, no computer, I am finally ready to move on to the next cake! Sorry it took so long! Many birthdays coming up this month so I have had requests galore! My mother, who is a baker spectacular herself and my inspiration, will celebrate her bday this Sunday. Who better to have her special dinner than cakequeen! She ask for a banana cake so after much research I have created my own version! It is called Banana Layer Cake with Caramel Frosting! Kind of like Bananas Foster, that buttery brown sugar flaming dessert served over ice cream! I will be baking on Satuday. Wish me luck!

ReplyDeleteKayleen,

Rachel
p.s. Google Bobby Flay and Coconut Cake. He made an awesome cake for a Throwdown on his show last summer. We made one like it last summer and it was delicious!
ReplyDeleteYay Rachel! Thank you for becomming a follower! I will check out the Bobby Flay cake. I promised one to Matt for his bday on the 18th! Wish I knew about gluten free cakes for you! Maybe someday.
ReplyDeleteMom's cake sounds wonderful!! Can't wait to taste!!!
ReplyDeleteThe cake was just wonderful, Thank you so much !!! I will try to remember to get a slice to Robert, your biggest fan!!!
ReplyDeleteThe highest praise ever for your banana cake! Jimmy shared a slice with Tommy Z at the golf course and he is a world traveler. He has had the best that Switzerland and lots of Europe has to offer and he said it is the best he has ever tasted. He wants to know why Hank doesn't weigh 600 lbs.
ReplyDeletewow, well I think the cake gets better after a day or two of that caramel syrup soaking into it! Also banana lovers are crazed about their banana cakes! I guess cakequeen did ok with her improvisation, but I still have to figure out the caramel frosting!! Thanks mom, and Tommy Z!
